Thanks for your comments. Photoshop is pretty easy to learn. Don Seegmiller has a book that is great resource for learning to paint in photoshop. The name of it is Digital Character Design and Painting: The Photoshop CS Edition, there is also a updated version for CS3. Good luck with learning photoshop. I having used it but it would be ideal for your sketching.
